Watch a vintage WWII bomb blow up half of downtown Munich
8/29/2012Allied forces dumped millions of tons of ordnance on Germany during World War II, and it's estimated there are tens of thousands of unexploded bombs still buried under its cities. Sometimes, one resurfaces. When construction workers dug up a 550-pound aerial bomb in central Munich, 3,000 residents were evacuated and explosives experts were called in. The bomb was packed under sand to muffle the explosion, but it still put on quite a show, with debris causing fires in several nearby buildings.
