Girl breaks our hearts with letter to drunken driver who paralyzed her

11/16/2012

"Tell me how I look and feel," 9-year-old Xitclalli "Chilli" Vasquez wrote. "How do you feel today? Do you remember July 9?" Vasquez does. That's the day in 2011 that she was paralyzed after the car she was riding in was hit by Jeremy Solis in Fort Worth, Texas. Vasquez wrote a letter to Solis and read it at his sentencing last week, leaving the entire courtroom — including Solis — in tears. "In therapy they showed me how to lift myself and dress myself … but it's still very hard," she read. "There are days that I cry cause I can’t do what I used to." The 21-year-old Solis, who had a blood alcohol level of 0.23 at the time of the accident, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. [Source]
