Yabba dabba don't: Flintstones car banned

7/3/2012

Nein, Fred! Germany may be famous for its autobahn — a highway with no speed limit — but one Flintstones fan there has been yabba dabba denied permission to hit the road. Sebastian Trager has built a replica of the famous Flintstones car, although his is conveniently fitted with an engine so you don't wear out your soles achieving speed. "We copied every last detail," the auto buff said, including leopard-print seat covers and a wooden frame design. Unfortunately the list of requirements to make the retro ride roadworthy was just too much to overcome. (Well, it is difficult to install windshield wipers when there's no windshield.) The cartoon-inspired creation will instead be featured in shows and exhibitions. Shame. We'd love to see it turning heads in the fast lane.
