'Zombie' hamster delights family by digging out of grave
4/13/2012If this is the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse, it's going to be an ADORABLE way for the world to end. Dave Eyley's family found its hamster, Rhino, lifeless in his cage and gave him the most dignified burial a creature can have when it involves spending eternity in a plastic tub. Eyley was shocked when a neighbor called the next day to say that the hamster was racing around the yard.
One vet says that hamsters sometimes enter a state of hibernation that can be mistaken for death (subtext: Don't flush them!). "He seems unaffected by being dead and buried," Eyley says. Perhaps that's why the family has given him a new name: Jesus.
Will Rhino forgive his family for burying him?
