Zuckerberg likely didn't cheap out on wife's ring after all
5/25/2012The rumors launched by people with too few hobbies that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg may have given his new bride, Priscilla Chan, a discount ring (by billionaire standards) are being squashed. It not only appears that Zuck may have coughed up more than $100,000 for the ring but also that he demonstrated diligent cultural awareness by selecting a ruby. The approximately 3-carat gem is a "small stone," an expert reports, but "red has more meaning and emotion in Asia." That, combined with the yellow-gold setting that's also more traditional in Asian cultures, has led the gemologist to conclude "this is probably what [Chan's] grandmother had." Sure she did. Is marrying billionaires traditional as well?
